Why do some physical therapists have a bachelor’s degree while others have a DPT?

Whether you see PT or PT, DPT after a provider’s name, you are seeing a licensed physical therapist. Therapists who hold a bachelor’s degree earned the entry-level degree that was standard at the time they graduated, before the DPT became the required entry-level degree for accredited physical therapy programs in 2016. 

Who will be providing my care: a PT or a PTA?
